MOVEMENT EFFICIENCY FOR A LIFETIME

MPS providing Movement Health Solutions

We all move differently and there is no right or wrong way to move. For this reason there is much debate about what is normal movement. Modern neuroscience is challenging the concept of stability and exploring the control of movement. Movement impairments are known to effect the efficiency of movement and contribute to the development of kinesiopathological conditions.

Movement Health:

Gives people the most optimistic life style / activity participation.

‘A desired state that is not only injury free but also a state allows the individual to choose how to move’ (McNeill & Blandford, 2015)

Movement Health is something we should enjoy throughout our movement lifespan. It is more than just absence of pain/injury… and should exist in tandem with choice of movement

Movement Choices:

The ‘choice’ of how we move can be tested - Do we have choices in the way we move? As clinicians we need to ask this question and consider the impact of this on presentation and goals of the patient.

Kinetic Control and TPM  both put movement centre stage. Kinetic Control’s focus is directed at using movement to change symptoms and functional limitations of movement related problems. TPM uses movement to seek out and address the movement related risk to performance and health, in both life and sport.

Possessing more movement and performance solutions in any arena in which we operate, allows us to vary how we meet the challenges of any day, how we solve the movement problems set by function and performance. This variability in our movement is associated with a reduction in overuse related injury risk plus, variability in our movement means we always have another strategy; truly flexible and adaptable, a robust display of Movement Health.
