Head of Education, Lincoln Blandford presents at XXVIII Isokinetic Medical Group Conference
The last weekend of April 2019, saw the annual Isokinetic Footbal Medicine Conference hosted at one of the world’s greatest theatres of football; Wembley Stadium.
An iconic venue for this year’s conference: Wembley Stadium in London (1948 Olympics, 1966 World Cup Final)
Our very own Head of Education, Lincoln Blandford had the chance to present to sports and exercise medicine professionals from all over the world, in a session entitled, ‘Nordic Hamstring Activation Indicates Presence of Injury History’. Considering the association between injury history and hamstring muscle activation patterns in returned to play footballers, the session presented the case that although available for selection, changes in muscle activation from the presence of acute pain appear to linger well beyond the end of rehabilitation.
Exploring the relationships between muscle synergies, muscle length and injury history in elite level footballers.
This was Lincoln’s second appearance at the Isokinetic Conference, following his 2016 talk (click here) on the use of The Performance Matrix tool and principles in assisting the return play strategy of a player following hamstring injury.
World renowned speakers: ‘Football Medicine Meets the Universe of Sport’.
Following the Conference, the months of May and June are also looking exciting for both Lincoln and TPM; he is about to deliver TPM education for an English football club (see TPM Elite) and then will then be heading to Taipei to deliver the four days of The Performance Solution, the first time this course has run in Taiwan. Finally, June will see The Performance Solution return to the UK, supplying Lincoln another chance to connect movement patterns, muscle synergies and injury risk reduction through the use of the TPM system.
